Principal's Welcome

Cerda.png

I am delighted to introduce myself to you and your family as the new Principal of Jordan High School. I want you to know that I am honored to serve in the community in which my parents raised me and where I have grown both on a personal and professional level. My family has lived in Watts for the past 25 years and it is now my privilege to prepare your children to meet the academic demands of colleges and universities. Over the last 15 years at Jordan High School, I have served in different capacities, including: Spanish and English Language Development Teacher, English Learner Program Coordinator, and most recently as Assistant Principal.

My vision as principal of Jordan High School is for our school to earn the highest distinction awarded to schools in the state, which is to become a California Gold Ribbon School. This is a challenging goal, but I know that working together we can reach it. Your children as well as mine deserve the opportunity to attend a school that prepares them to be successful in their life after high school and through college as productive adults. I want you to know that we take this responsibility very seriously and that the Jordan family of teachers and staff is committed to prepare your children to be college and career ready.

I would also like to extend my gratitude to the 21-person hiring committee comprised of school staff, teachers, parents, community members, Local District South representatives and Partnership for LA Schools representatives for committing to a thorough and thoughtful two-month process. I am excited and proud to have been selected by this committee to lead our school.

Sincerely,
Luc

Atentamente,

Lucía Cerda
